Seiryukan Group Organization Guide

Originally founded by Master Yanagisawa Katsushige as a comprehensive self-defense technique, aiming for true self-defense. The actual activities of Seiryukan were initiated in 1989 by the second head master, who simultaneously refined each technique. In February of the following year, the school was organized into four schools: Yanagisawa-ryu Self-Defense, Sokendo, Sogo Kenjutsu, and Martial Karate.

The school began activities as a federation, and the name Seiryukan was chosen to convey the meaning of "properly carrying on Master Yanagisawa's teachings." Furthermore, with the aim of becoming a martial arts culture school, the school established the TU Group and Safety School to strengthen its management capabilities and enter various business ventures. Subsequently, the school expanded its umbrella to include Aikido, various committees, and courses, and actively pursued partnerships with other martial arts and new sports. In March 2000, the school entered the internet business with a website. Furthermore, to strengthen the group's ties with various collaborating organizations, the "Seiryuukan Group" was established in December of the same year.

Since 2013, we have been focusing on transitioning from a classroom-based to an experience-based dojo, and have now become a "martial arts experience dojo" that anyone can easily experience, with activities centered around our headquarters dojo in Tokyo and our training center in Kashima, Ibaraki Prefecture. Even when it comes to the content of the various techniques, we are not stubbornly sticking to the traditional methods, but rather constantly incorporating new techniques that are in line with the times, creating new systems and evolving, which is a unique feature of Seiryukan.

Seiryukan Symbol

The Seiryukan symbol represents the purpose of Seiryukan, "self-defense," which is to protect oneself from harm. The protrusions on the outer periphery of the circle represent harm, and the hands are held up to protect against that harm. The family crest in the center is the crest inherited from the founder of the school, Master Yanagisawa.
